The feeding of a baby, in its first 6 months of life is with breast milk, after this time you can begin to implement a diet with solid foods.

Dr. Sergio Díaz Madero

baby 6 months Feeding in the first 6 months of life consists mainly of feeding with milk, whether human or formula; however after 6 months the baby's requirements begin to be higher than can be used with milk, then you must introduce increasingly complex foods. Generally it is recommended to start with very simple foods like fruits or vegetables and later to introduce foods more and more complex until trying to arrive at a feeding very similar to what is at home.

Foods to avoid

In case of children who suffer from food allergies should avoid foods that are allergic or more allergenic that are known, however, in a child who does not suffer from allergies, should be avoided.

During the introduction of solid foods to the diet of babies previously it is advisable to avoid a series of foods that apparently today we have no justification obviously children who have a history of allergies or a lot of risk should avoid at least the most allergenic foods that we know are important in each population however in a healthy child in a baby who has no problems should avoid foods with excess sugar. The introduction of juices into the diet of very young infants is not recommended today.

International standards indicate that virtually any food can be introduced and that it is ideal to do so in a short time, from 6 to 8 months of life.

Integrating solid foods into your baby's diet

To know if a baby is ready to integrate solid foods into his diet should assess the age of the child, also its psychomotor development depends. In general, considering that a baby between 4 and 6 months is ready to feed on things other than milk, in general one can realize this when the baby begins to sit, when he begins to look for objects and introduces them in his mouth and especially when he begins to show a lot of interest in the foods his parents consume.

Frequency and amount of solid food in the baby's diet

When starting with solid foods in general it is recommended to start with 1 or 2 meals a day, it is also advisable to use the same food for 2 to 5 days to allow the baby to get used to its taste and see what signs of acceptance to food gives. Among the adverse effects of starting a solid diet may happen that, as time passes, the baby may be ordering more and more food, before this can increase the quantity or frequency of meals, usually this depends on the needs of every baby.
