Colitis Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Written by:Colitis refers to problems of bowel mobility. There are different types, depending on the main symptom: diarrhea, constipation, pain, and distension.
Dr. Gerardo Alfonso Morales Fuentes
When we talk about diarrhea we refer to the presence of liquid or semi-liquid bowel movements. Constipation is when we have uncommon bowel movements. The pain can be colic type, generalized or without any acute or identifiable cause. The subtype distension is the most common, this refers to the vast majority of people with "inflammation of the abdomen". Although this must be corrected, there is no inflammation, but an accumulation of gas inside the bowel that distends it, like a balloon and usually appears in the evening (flat abdomen and planted abdomen in the afternoon).
Colitis is associated with certain personality types or emotional states. The origin has not been determined at 100%, there are theories that claim that the intestinal flora is unbalanced, that there is chronic microscopic inflammation secondary to infections or food.
Medical treatment for colitis
The treatment is in relation to improve the mobility of the intestine and treat the symptoms as such, therefore, antidiarrheals, laxatives and antispasmodics are recommended to facilitate the expulsion of gas and balance intestinal flora. The main treatment is to coordinate bowel movement. There is no magic cure for this, despite the promotion of remedies such as colonic washes, diets, detox, anything naturist, juices, repetitive colonoscopies and massages; None of this works and, on the contrary, can further damage the bowel.
