Gastrointestinal motility is motor function of the digestive tract. Alterations may produce dysphagia, retention of food in the stomach, diarrhea or constipation. There are 3 main types to reflux, functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel are included.
Irritable bowel syndrome, known colloquially as "colitis", causes abdominal pain and discomfort associated with altered bowel movements. It is 3 times more common in women than in men and treatment is based on control of the disease and no cure.
