The function of bypass procedures is to prevent the patient from consuming the same amounts of food and absorbing what they eat. As we know obesity is one of the main public health problems in the world and there is a very high rate of people who find it difficult to lose weight through diet and exercise. That is why this surgery has become so famous and successful, as it decreases weight and controls and prevents diseases related to obesity.

This process is aimed at those patients with grade II, III or greater obesity. The degree of obesity is determined with the body mass index. It is obtained from the division of weight in kilograms between height in square meters. It is a candidate that is equal to or greater than 35, equal to or greater than 30 is considered obesity and there are alternatives of endoscopy for its treatment.

Obesity in Mexico
