In more severe cases, and days before the menstrual period, bleeding may occur at the time of defecation or urination.

In general, the discomfort of endometriosis is related to the menstruation process, however, there are patients who have chronic pelvic pain, which is not necessarily related to the rule.

The importance of regular check-ups with the gynecologist

It is now known that leading a healthy lifestyle decreases the risk of endometriosis .

This means that, if you have a balanced diet, you exercise, you use contraceptives and you go to the gynecologist early and periodically, the risks of suffering from this disease decrease.

It is important to go to the specialist especially when there is a history of pelvic pain, a symptom that helps this disease is detected in early stages. This will allow the doctor to provide more timely treatment.

Gynecological treatments for endometriosis

The treatments that are carried out in patients with endometriosis are of 2 types: those that are carried out through medications and surgical ones.

The main objective of medical treatments is to reduce pain and is prescribed especially in those young patients and adolescents. Medical treatment is recommended before subjecting a patient to the surgical process and its function is, in addition to removing the pain that causes endometriosis , preventing or slowing the progression of the disease. The medical treatment also seeks to reduce the implants of this condition at the level of the pelvic organs.

Laparoscopic surgery is the gold standard for diagnosing endometriosis, allowing the degree or severity of the disease to be determined.

With the surgical treatment, implants and nodules of endometriosis are eliminated, the anatomy of the pelvic organs is restored, pelvic adhesions are removed and pain and other intestinal discomfort are reduced.

The most appropriate treatment for the patient will be chosen based on the age of the patient, the symptoms and the severity of the discomfort, the desire or not to get pregnant by the patient and her partner, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each method
