Colonoscopy is an endoscopy used to examine the colon and small intestine. It is performed through a small, thin tube ( endoscope) is inserted through the anus and has at its end with a camera that records the organs and walls wherever he goes. The objective is to locate any polyp or adenoma that is in this area to treat and prevent them from becoming cancer. To carry out this process requires sedate the patient partially or completely. Currently, there is an alternative to traditional colonoscopy much less invasive and does not require sedation. This is the virtual colonoscopy, a test that uses images of the inside of the intestine and colon obtained using computerized tomography (CT or CAT ) instead of the images from the camera of the colonoscope.
