Stroke means the sudden cessation of cerebral circulation after injury of cerebral vessels, which starts unexpectedly and can develop within minutes in major neurological syndromes. Three basic ways of mechanisms of action are known: haemorrhagic (atherosclerosis and hypertension are usually most frequent causes them); cerebral thrombosis, arteriosclerosis again being the most common cause; and, thirdly, strokes. Clinically, depending on the location of the lesion some specific neurological signs, which may be in the form of motor, sensory impairment, and, in severe cases, coma and death will manifest.
