The procedure usually takes a few minutes and involves the introduction of a probe (equipped with a sensitive acid receptors ) through the nose that is slowly driving up the esophagus. The probe contains an electronic device connected to a computer that will measure and record levels of acidity. This method is often used especially for patients suffering from gastroesophageal or for those with heartburn and esophageal reflux pain. Generally, in this type of exploration can not be used anesthetics or sedatives.
