Por qué es una especialista de primer nivel
La Dra. Roopa Mehta es Endocrinóloga e Investigadora de la Unidad de Investigación en Enfermedades Metabólicas (UIEM) y del Departamento de Endocrinología del Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ). Es Directora de la Clínica de Lípidos y Directora del Laboratorio Vascular en la Unidad de Investigación en Enfermedades Metabólicas de este Hospital. Es Profesora Asociada en programas de Endocrinología de pre y posgrado, y en 2021 fue aceptada como miembro de la Academia Nacional de Medicina de México.
Formación Médica
La Dra. Mehta realizó su formación médica en las Escuelas Médicas y Odontológicas Unidas de los Hospitales Guy y St Thomas, Londres, Reino Unido. Posteriormente se formó como Endocrinóloga en el INCMNSZ. Al completar el programa de residencia, se Subespecializó en Diabetes y Metabolismo y obtuvo más experiencia clínica e investigadora en el Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston, MA, EE. UU. Cuenta con una Maestría y Doctorado en Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Recientemente completó una estancia en investigación en Imperial College Londres.

Ha presentado ponencias en las reuniones de la Asociación Americana de Diabetes, la Asociación Europea para el Estudio de la Diabetes y la Asociación Americana de Endocrinólogos Clínicos (AACE) y ha presentado su investigación (carteles) en reuniones Nacionales e Internacionales.
La Dra. Mehta es Editor in Chief de la revista Current Diebetes Reports y Editora Asociada de la revista Diabetes Medicine y Miembro del Consejo Asesor/Revisor de la revista Diabetes Therapy.
Ha recibido el Premio de Investigación Alfonso Rivera y el PremioJoven Investigador de la AACE, además de ser Autora y Coautora de más de 100 publicaciones en revistas internacionales, además de numerosos capítulos de libros.
Es Coeditora de un libro para pacientes con Diabetes llamado "Viviendo con diabetes: un manual práctico".
